The Father sent his Only Son among men.

Jesus Christ is the Incarnate Word of God (became flesh = became a man like us).

Without separating from his divinity (while remaining always God), He became incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary : and was made man.

Mary is a jewish girl (Luc 1,26-27) remained virgin and preserved from sin (conceived without sin or Immaculate Conception). She is the mother of Jesus.

Jesus is true man, of the line of David (Matthew 1,1)

and true God, as only Son of the our Heavenly Father.

Thus, Mary is named Mother of God (Theotokos).

Jesus is the Messiah (sent by the Father):

"Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father" (John 6,46).

To the shepherds, the angel announced the birth of Jesus as the Messiah promised to Israel:

"To you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2,11).

Jesus is the Saviour (The Messiah) announced by the prophets:

"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (God with us)" (Isaiah 7, 14).

"But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, who are little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel; whose origin is from of old, from ancient days" (Micah 5,2).

"I will tell of the decree of the Lord: he said to me, You are my son, today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations jour heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession" (Psalm 2,7-8).
