b-Abba - P 12 - Confirmation

The Confirmation or Chrismation is one of the three sacraments of Christian initiation.

If you are an adult, you receive thsis sacrament just after the baptism (Menu 11).

The Confirmation was instituted by Jesus at the evening of his resurrection.

He breaths on the disciples and says to them: "Receive the Holy Spirit" (John 20, 22).

Fifty days later, when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues and to proclaim the mighty works of God  (Acts 2, 1-11).

By the sacrament of Confirmation, the Christian receives  the plenitude of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit is Lord and Giver of life. He proceeds from the Father and the Son. Together with the Father and the Son, Holy Spirit is no less adored and glorified. Holy Spirit spoke through the prophets.

Here are the gifts of the Holy Spirit :

wisdom, intelligence, advice, force, science, piety and fear of God.

These gifts belong in plenitude to Christ, according to the prophet Isaïe (11, 1-2).
By them, Christians can be true witnesses of Jesus and of the Truth.

Now, here are the twelve fruits of the Holy Spirit:

charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,

generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity.
