Summary of the b-abba website

God himself is an eternal exchange of love, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and he has destined us to share in that exchange.

In the course of its history, Israel was able to discover that God had only one reason to reveal himself to them, a single motive for choosing them from among all peoples as his special possession: his sheer gratuitous love and thanks to the prophets Israel understood that it was again out of love that God never stopped saving them and pardoning their unfaithfulness and sins (Is 43:1-7).

God's love for Israel is compared to a father's love for his son. His love for his people is stronger than a mother's for her children.

God's love is "everlasting": "For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you." (Is 54: 10). Through Jeremiah, God declares to his people, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you." (Jer 31:3).

John goes affirms that "God is love": (l Jn 4:8, 16). God's very being is love. By sending his only Son and the Spirit of Love in the fullness of time, God has revealed his innermost secret (I Cor 2:7-16).

At the beginning of his Gospel, John writes:

"At the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God".This incarnated Word is Jesus Christ.

He adds at once:

"All things were made by Him" (the Word), in Him was the Life and the Life was the Light of the men".

John remembers words he heard from the mouth of Jesus:

“No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known” (1, 18)

or "Before Abraham was, I am" (8, 58). (“I Am” is the Name of God - Ex 3, 14)

or “I and the Father are one" (10, 30)

or "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth” (16, 13-15).

In his letters, Paul says that Jesus is Lord (Kurios), i.e. God. He also uses the words 'God'' or 'Son of God' to speak of Jesus (Rom 9, 5, 5, 10, …). Paul also brings together in one formula the three Divine Persons:

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all" (2 Co 13,13).

The Holy Spirit is the eternal Love exchange between the Father and the Son.

He is like the breath of the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is God, united to the Father and the Son, and equal to them.

Love is the best definition of the Christians' God :

"God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him" (1 John 4, 16).
